EUROSENSE awarded with thermography of Ghent

Following the successful projects in Antwerp (and surrounding municipalities), Genk, the Brussels Capital Region and several projects in France, EUROSENSE has been awarded with the project for the creation of a thermographic map of the city of Ghent, including the harbour.

The city of Ghent aims to be a climate neutral city by 2050 ( The methodology as proposed by EUROSENSE and successfully implemented in Antwerp and Genk has been recognized by the city as the most suitable methodology to sensitize citizens of the need for an energy efficient roof insulation.

In case the weather conditions become suitable for this type of missions, EUROSENSE will execute the flights over the project area. Approx. 20.000 thermal images with a resolution of 50cm will be acquired. Approximately two months after the flights, the thermographic map, including the interpretation key and legends, will be finished. The city of Ghent will subsequently launch a web application similar to the one in Antwerp ( to present the results to their citizens.

The first flight has been executed in the night of the 17th on the 18th February 2011.
The Flemish public television (VRT) joined the EUROSENSE-employees executing terrain measurements on the ground:
